About Our Dual Language Spanish Magnet Program
The Dual Language Spanish Magnet Program at George M. Kilpatrick Elementary provides students with an enriching educational experience designed to develop proficiency in both English and Spanish and the opportunity to develop academic excellence while becoming bilingual, biliterate, and culturally competent learners.
Through instruction in two languages, students build strong academic skills while developing bilingualism, biliteracy, cross-cultural awareness, and an appreciation for diverse cultures.
Our goal is to prepare students to become confident learners and effective communicators who are ready to thrive in an increasingly global community.

2. Submit Your Application Online
Families interested in the Dual Language Spanish Magnet Program must complete the CCPS School Choice/Magnet Application online through SchoolMint.

3. Dual Language Spanish Magnet Program Requirements
Families should review all eligibility and program requirements for the Dual Language Spanish Magnet Program before applying.
Additional information regarding grade-level eligibility, language screening or assessments, parent commitments, and other program-specific requirements will be provided as applicable.
Kindergarten & 1st Grade Applicants
Students applying for Kindergarten or First Grade do not need prior experience with the Spanish Language. K–1 applicants are not required to complete a language proficiency assessment as part of the application process.
2nd-5th Grade Applicants
Students must earn an acceptable score on the language proficiency assessment and maintain satisfactory student conduct, as discipline infractions may impact final acceptance into the program. Students applying for grades 3-5 must also submit two online recommendations from their current teachers. Recommendations will be completed electronically, and parents/guardians will be asked to provide the email address of the two current teachers as part of the application process.
Applicants who meet the initial eligibility requirements will receive additional information regarding the language proficiency assessment and any next steps in the application process.
